Hey! We’re glad you’re here to get to know us better. Alma da Rua Gallery was born from a dream back in 2016, with a clear goal: to show the world that the art pulsing through the streets deserves every bit of the spotlight. You know those giant murals, the graffiti that makes you stop in your tracks on the sidewalk, the art that transforms the city? Well, we are the place where all that energy takes center stage.
Over time, we grew, and so did the demand! That’s why, in 2022, the Alma da Rua family expanded with the opening of Alma da Rua II, right nearby on Medeiros de Albuquerque Street. This expansion was proof that urban art never stops, and we’re moving forward together on this journey, always opening more doors and walls for art to happen.
Our story started right there, on Gonçalo Afonso Street, just a stone's throw from Batman's Alley in Vila Madalena. And it wasn't by chance! That spot was already an open-air melting pot of creativity. We just arrived to be the meeting point, the official showcase for so many talents who, for a long time, only had walls to express themselves. There was a need for a space that embraced these artists, and we took on that mission heart and soul.
Today, we aren’t just a gallery. We are a movement! Everything happens here: from incredible exhibitions that take you on a journey, to talks and workshops where you can dive deep into the street art universe. We also host acoustic shows to set the mood for the night and, of course, our facade, which becomes a giant living canvas, constantly transforming through the art of graffiti writers and muralists.
For us, Alma da Rua is more than just an address. It’s where inclusion meets authenticity, and where connection becomes community. We value every style, every voice, and every story told through ink and spray paint. We want urban art to reach every corner, to inspire, to transform, and to build bridges. Because, at the end of the day, street art is the soul of our city, and we are here to celebrate that!
